Some Minor Glitches

This post is coming from Papua New Guinea, but we are not yet at our destination in Wewak. What an interesting day this was! When we checked in yesterday, we were not permitted to check our bags all the way to Wewak, because Air Niugini does not have a baggage agreement with Virgin Australia, the airline we traveled from LAX to Brisbane, Australia on. Consequently we only had our bags checked through to Brisbane, requiring us to go through Immigration and then retrieve our bags and clear customs before goiing to the Air Niugini ticket counter to check in for our flights beyond Australia. We had some misinformation that caused us to get out of line in Immigration, go to the customer service desk for Air Niugini, only to be told to go back to Immigration and retrieve our luggage before we could check in. Our layover was not nearly long enough to give us any breathing room, but we were finally aided by an Air Niugini agent who had them hold the plane for our luggage to get aboard and he led us through Immigration to leave Australia and to our destination at Gate 85, just in time before the plane took off for Port Moresby, PNG. Along with all of this, Mike's single checked bag did not come off the carousel, and upon filing a claim for lost luggage, it was determined that his bag had been shipped to Sydney, rather than Brisbane. Hopefully this will arrive at Wewak sometime in the next few days. So, we made our flight to Port Moresby with no time to spare at Brisbane, knowing full well that we would have adequate time in Port Moresby before we fly to Wewak. As things go sometimes, we checked in only to find out that our 4:30pm flight is now cancelled and rescheduled for 4:15am tomorrow. The airline booked every one of us into a fine hotel here in Port Moresby and gave us some food allowance. We were reminded that only God is in control of these things, and He has allowed all of this to happen for some reason of His own. All of the mental stress that went on in Brisbane seemed to be wasted except that we were now given the privilege of getting cleaned up and rested for a period of time before we end up in Wewak. Who knows, but perhaps Mike's lost bag might show up by the time we get to the airport in the wee hours of tomorrow. Another thing we realized is that we never had a Sunday this wince we crossed the International Dateline and basically lost an entire day. Anyway, we had dinner together at this hotel and are all in our rooms to get some sleep before being awakened around 1:30am tomorrow for that early flight to Wewak. As it turns out we will not miss too much time at Wewak and will be able to get started on the work there with some needed rest behind us. Please pray for us that we can have adequate time in Wewak to accomplish the task we are given. Pray that we will trust God to meet our needs and that we will adapt to His schedule without any stress or worry on our part.
